Channel 2 News Company expanding Mobile Activities


The Channel 2 News Company has launched a carrier-independent interactive video portal, in cooperation with Teleclal. The portal is available by video dialing the shortcode *22, at the cost of a standard mobile call.

The interactive video portal extends the well known voice portal *22 which is the most popular IVR news service in Israel since 2001.
The portal includes live and edited news casts, weather forecasts and traffic information. The portal utilizes IVVR technology, which is supported by all 3G phones without requiring configuration, software downloads or a data plan.

Dani Sade, the Channel's VP: "The use of IVVR technology has enabled us offer a rich portal that includes live broadcasts in addition to *22 IVR services. In the future, more content will be added to the portal". "We are very excited about this launch, which enables true carrier-independent services over a single shortcode number", says Yoav Ben Yakar, Teleclal's CEO. "Teleclal, in cooperation with DSPV, was the first in Israel to launch commercial services based on a 3G (UMTS) video call and will continue to lead this growing area in 2010".
